I'm often considered a jack of all trades and a entrepreneur. I grew up around business with my father owning and being the director of successful business like an oil company. So business is something that comes natural to me. I have always believed that if you're good at business, you can succeed in any business. Take me for example, I've never worked in PR, nor do I have any PR or Marketing qualifications but Socialite still succeeds.
It's not the business that fails, its the people behind the business that fail
I first wanted to start Socialite when I first became an influencer and I saw a gap in the market for effective digital marketing services. I thought it was about time that the PR industry had a company that effectively specialises in social media marketing and led by social media gurus. I may not have the qualifications or experience that my competitors do, but I can identify a problem and offer a solution, hence Socialite. We aren't playing catch up, we set the trends.
My business tips;
Understand your market, do your research. Look at your competition and how your company can fit in to your desired market. See who your competitors are and how much they're earning to evaluate whether your business is viable. Also see what your competition do well and not too well and capitalise that.
Ask yourself, would you consume what you're selling? If the answer is no, then you need to ask yourself why and identify those issues to develop your product to make it more desirable.
Don't be scared to take a risk. It can be embarrassing to start a business and for it to not work out. However, thats just how life works. If you're too scared to start a business because you're worried about what people may think, then maybe you should just do a 9-5.
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't let pride get in your way and use the expertise of others to aid in your professional and personal development.
